Impact Associate

ICA is seeking an Impact Associate to help ICA on its mission of closing the racial and gender wealth gaps by maintaining ICA’s robust impact databases and providing descriptive, accurate reports of ICA’s historical and current work across the 9 county Bay Area. The Impact Associate is a critically important member of the ICA team, responsible for managing data collection, aggregation, and impact analysis & reporting across the organization, as well as continually improving ICA’s data collection, management and reporting practices. The position is based in Oakland, CA with hybrid in-office, Tuesdays and Thursdays and remote work. This position reports to the Chief Programs and Strategic Initiatives Officer.

People of color, especially women of color, start businesses at higher rates — but are constrained by structural inequities and are often overlooked by mainstream funders. Through ICAs coaching, connections, and capital we partner with, mentor, and invest in underestimated Bay Area entrepreneurs to accelerate great businesses and build an economy that works for all.

This opportunity will allow you to directly contribute to sharing ICA’s impact with external stakeholders and improving upon ICA’s current data collection and management practices. You will help our team take our work to the next level in a deeply rewarding environment because:

  • We partner intensely with our entrepreneurs over years and see the impact of our work daily when we buy their products, watch them create new jobs, and grow the local economy.
  • We’re proving there is a better way to structure capital and support racial equity in small business through our unique VC/equity model of financing.
  • We operate like a fast-paced lean startup – combining the best of the for profit and nonprofit worlds with a laser focus on our entrepreneurs with a high priority on providing good jobs here at ICA.

Reporting directly to the Chief Program and Strategic Initiatives Officer, you will work collaboratively with each department within ICA to manage all of the organization’s impact data functions, including tracking our entrepreneur client outcomes and providing timely data reporting to internal and external stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to learn more about venture capital investing, CDFI’s, accelerator programs, and building community wealth through small businesses. Ultimately, this cross functional role is the one source of truth for ICA’s impact related data and is responsible for ensuring that internal and external stakeholders quantitively understand ICA’s impact and how we are contributing to closing the racial and gender wealth gaps.

  • You are a detail-oriented contributor that prioritizes precision and accuracy throughout your work – you’re laser-focused on making sure that what you get out the door is trusted and reliable.
  • You love living in the nuances of data, comfortable wading through datasets to answer all types of research questions and discovering and what insights the data is telling you.
  • You are naturally curious and a collaborative team player
  • You pride yourself on your focus on innovation, frequently identifying and researching processes and tools that can help increase the impact and efficiency of your work.
  • You like to bring clarity to ambiguous situations; you are skilled in boiling down complex concepts to simple bite-sized pieces while maintaining focus on the overall picture.
  • You thrive in a culture that prioritizes diversity, and values honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
