ICA is seeking an Impact Associate to help ICA on its mission of closing the racial and gender wealth gaps by maintaining ICA’s robust impact databases and providing descriptive, accurate reports of ICA’s historical and current work across the 9 county Bay Area. The Impact Associate is a critically important member of the ICA team, responsible for managing data collection, aggregation, and impact analysis & reporting across the organization, as well as continually improving ICA’s data collection, management and reporting practices. The position is based in Oakland, CA with hybrid in-office, Tuesdays and Thursdays and remote work. This position reports to the Chief Programs and Strategic Initiatives Officer.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Program and Strategic Initiatives Officer, you will work collaboratively with each department within ICA to manage all of the organization’s impact data functions, including tracking our entrepreneur client outcomes and providing timely data reporting to internal and external stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to learn more about venture capital investing, CDFI’s, accelerator programs, and building community wealth through small businesses. Ultimately, this cross functional role is the one source of truth for ICA’s impact related data and is responsible for ensuring that internal and external stakeholders quantitively understand ICA’s impact and how we are contributing to closing the racial and gender wealth gaps.

Impact Data Collection, Reporting, and Standardization (75%)

• Manage collection, cleanup, and consolidation of ICA’s impact datasets into a reliable and accessible database, on an ongoing basis
• Analyze data collected and manage the creation and updating of standardized reports to ensure data and knowledge sharing with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage and maintain all impact collection methods, ensuring they align with all reporting needs, internal workflows, and minimize entrepreneur client burden
• Gather external data such as open-source regional data to provide context and benchmarking for ICA’s impact
• Support with the evaluation of alternative sources of client data to improve robustness of ICA impact data
• Support with the standardization of data definitions, ensuring this information is shared across the team, regularly 
• Collaborate with Development to provide impact data reporting for fundraising purposes
• Collaborate with Finance to provide impact data to ICA’s capital providers

Database Management & Integration (25%)

• Manage ICA’s data definition library and ensuring updates are made to internal documents, as needed, and this information is shared across the team, regularly
• Manage connections between ICA’s various data sets to ensure all impact data is up to date, robust, and accurate

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience building and managing complex datasets that will be accessed by users with a broad array of data fluency.
• Experience using Excel to analyze, interpret, and visualize data
• Knowledge of impact data measurement and evaluation, community development finance, venture capital, and/or small business finance.
• Working knowledge of UpMetrics, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
• Strong ability to conduct research, analyze information, and prepare reports and other materials for external audiences (such as funders) and internal audiences (such as team leaders).
• Strong project management and detail orientation. Able to work independently and cross-functionally. Successfully manages multiple projects with competing deadlines, anticipates obstacles, and gains buy-in from stakeholders.
• Enthusiasm for ICA’s mission and values. Strong commitment to racial justice work.

Our offer and commitment

The annual base salary for this position is $60,000 - $68,000; compensation also includes a discretionary bonus paid annually based on organization and individual performance.
